When the awards were being handed out at the end of the day things were capped off nicely when John McGinn and Jack Smith jointly won the player of the tournament award.
St Mirren starting XI: Whyte, Meechan, Kelly, McGinn, Holt, Williams, Hughes, Cuddihay, Smith, Murray, McMillan.
Subs: Brady, McLear, Baird, Yaqub, McEwan, Duggan, Mallan, Coyle.
David Longwell, St Mirren’s Head of Youth Development, said, “It was a hard game today but it was also great experience for the boys.
“There was lots of good stuff in our play but that being said we also know that there is lots to work on before the start of the new season.
“We had a lot of Under-17 boys playing in the game – six in total – so this was a very young group.
“Lot of positives and well done to John McGinn and Jack Smith who both shared the player of the tournament award. It was a big positive for them and they both deserved it.
“Over the weekend the boys showed great attitude and spirit and we’ll look to carry that forward into the new season”
