Midfielder John McGinn has agreed on an extension to his contract
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper this afternoon on a deal that will see him continue to ply his trade with St Mirren until at least the summer of 2015.
John has worked his way through the St Mirren youth system and made his first team debut when he came on as a substitute against Celtic in a SPL match last month.
The youngster – who is the younger brother of present Buddie Paul and former Buddie Stephen – has made first team starts in the team’s last two outings.
St Mirren manager, Danny Lennon said, “David Longwell and Frazer Robertson, as well as all the youth coaches in our Youth Academy deserve great credit for developing these young players such as John who have featured of late in the first team squad.
“John has been working hard and has deserved his opportunity. With Kenny McLean now a regular within the first team we hope that John and Thomas [Reilly] will see their next aim as being to follow Kenny.
“It should also give our other youth players a vision of the pathway in front of them and I hope that many of them take this opportunity in the future by continuing their hard work within our Youth Academy.”
