Report: Stockport County 0-1 St Mirren

St Mirren recorded their first win of the pre-season this afternoon thanks to a late goal from Gary Harkins at Edgeley Park.

After a goalless first half there was the usual mass substitutions as the second half progressed.  But there were plenty of chances as home keeper Lewis King denied Harkins and Thomas Reilly as they fired in efforts on goal.

Just as the home side were stepping up the pressure Saints got the break to smash the deadlock.  It was that man Gary Harkins who was first to a loose ball in the home penalty-area where he kept his cool to slip the ball into the back of the net.

Danny Lennon’s side will round off their pre-season preparations when they face Newcastle United at St Mirren Park this coming Tuesday evening.
