New Signing: Kyle Hutton

St Mirren have signed Kyle Hutton this afternoon on a deal that will see him play in the black and white stripes of St Mirren until at least the summer of 2018.

A graduate of Rangers’ Murray Park Academy, Kyle made his senior debut agead 19 in a SPL match between Rangers and Kilmarnock on 14th August 2010.

In season 2011/12 he had two loan spells, spending the first half of the season with Partick Thistle, then going to Dunfermline Athletic during the January window.

The midfielder returned to Ibrox the following season and went on to establish himself as the Glasgow club won the Third Division but Kyle was forced to sit out a good portion of season 2013/14 having suffered a broken leg.

After only 12 appearances for Rangers the following season, Kyle was released at the end of season 2014/15 but he was quickly snapped up by Queen of the South where he made 33 appearances for the Doonhamers last term.

The midfielder has also been capped for Scotland at Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

James Hunter of St Mirren TV caught up with Kyle shortly after the midfielder inked his two year deal.

Kyle said: “I got the phone call from the manager asking me to come on-board and had a chat with him for five minutes and after that I was dying to join.

“He told me about the plans for the club and I know how big a club it is. He was talking about how he wants to push on to go up this year and just told me about the kind of things he’s going to try to do this year. It’s a big club and talking to him personally swayed the decision for me, I’m delighted I’m signed up.

“I knew a few boys from the past, I still speak to Kenny McLean and he’s told me about the size of the club, the fans and how enthusiastic they are about the club. Putting all those things together, the stadium, the training facilities etc. I just knew it was the right place for me.”
